Tuna Melts Our Hearts

Tuna is a rescue chiweenie with a generous overbite and a heart of gold.

Tuna is in many ways an unlikely star. From less than pleasant beginnings, Tuna was adopted by a loving mom who immediately saw his heart of gold and decided to share Tuna's charm with the world. Tuna now has over 400,000 followers on Instagram, and for good reason! There is something about Tuna's sweet eyes, generous overbite, pink belly and cuddly nature that is completely addictive! Tuna's mom Courtney Dasher talks with us about Tuna, adoption and cheese.

Tuna is a fan of Fetch Eyewear! Here he is sporting the Dash frames in Onyx. So studious!

Was it love at first site or did Tuna grow on you over time?

I instantly fell in love with him and knew that I wanted to keep him, even though my initial intentions were only to foster. #fosterfail. What can I say, he melted my heart :)

What do you know about Tuna's past?

He was found on the side of the road somewhere in San Diego. He was rescued by an amazing private rescuer who eventually showed him for adoption and the rest is history.

Did you have pets growing up?

I had lots of pets growing up! Mainly dogs and hamsters, but my dad used to incubate chickens and quails (for fun) so it would be an understatement to say that we had a few birds running around the house.

How did Tuna get his name?

I originally named him Mr. burns because of his uncanny resemblance to the Simpson's character. I started calling him Tooney which is short for cartoon and that eventually morphed into Tuna. The name suits his personality.

What is Tuna's favorite snack?

Cheese :) Probably because it's mine as well.

What advice would you give to people who are considering adopting a four legged friend?

Choose the one who really needs to know that they will be loved. You will see it written on their face. Whoever you choose, it will be one of the best decisions you will ever make because rescued animals are so grateful that they were saved. They make the greatest and most loving companions.
